PEORIA (WEEK) – Local McDonald’s owners in Central Illinois are giving back, donating some of the chain’s most popular menu items to people in need.
Franchise owners Terry Clark and Ryan Clark on Friday donated 5,000 frozen McRib and 3,000 frozen Quarter Pounder patties, along with buns and sauce to area food banks, including the Midwest Food Bank in Peoria.
“That means a lot of people being able to eat some good quality protein, and we appreciate that opportunity to get it, and it allows us to stretch it as far as we can,” said Rolland Reed, the Midwest Food Bank’s operations manager.
Reed said food bank staffers were thrilled because it’s not every day that a big chain restaurant offers to donate food.
“We are proud to support the communities we serve in this way through this coordination between the company, our local suppliers and our local franchise here in Central Illinois.” Natalie Pollizze, Director of Operations for the local McDonald’s franchise, said in a prepared statement.
The Midwest Food Bank in Peoria serves 330 food pantries in parts of Illinois, Iowa, and Kentucky, according to a news release.
