Qantas Club slashes fees, adds status credits for membership renewals

Qantas is slashing the cost of Qantas Club membership renewal fees by hundreds of dollars, and adding status credits into the bargain, until 31 July 2021.

It follows a similar campaign to attract new sign-ups to the airline’s lounge program, which also saw the $99 joining fee waived, and comes on the back of the airline’s recent decision to increase the cost of membership renewals by as much as 12%.

Qantas Club membership can be renewed for a period of one year, two years and four years, and under this latest promotion those costs all plummet by 33%:

  • One-year membership renewal drops from $600 to $402 (a saving of $198)
  • Two-year membership renewal drops from $1,100 to $737 (a saving of $363)
  • Four-year membership renewal drops from $2,000 to $1,340 (a saving of $660)

On top of that, a one-year renewal will net you a bonus of 50 status credits, with 100 status credits for a two-year or four-year renewal.

(There’s also the usual earning of 3 Qantas Points per dollar spent on Qantas Club membership, which can put several thousand points in your pocket.)

This promotion is restricted to individual Qantas Club memberships, however: the discounts and gratis status credits don’t extend to corporate or group membership schemes.

Beyond entry to domestic Qantas Club lounges and international Qantas Business lounges, Qantas Club membership also provides a more generous checked baggage allowance, priority check-in and ‘On Departure Upgrades’ for using your Qantas Points for a bump up to business class.
