Gabe Guerra, Kleberg Bank’s president/CEO, now holds a leadership position with the largest state community banking association in the United States.
Guerra, of Corpus Christi, has been elected to the Independent Bankers Association of Texas board of directors for 2020 and 2021, according to an association news release.
The Austin-based association represents more than 2,000 independent banks and branches in 700 Texas communities.
Guerra was previously a special appointee by the association’s chairman for two years. He was officially elected as a board member during the association’s 46th annual convention held virtually in October.
Guerra has been with Kleberg Bank 13 years. Before that, he worked for a large national bank.
He also serves on the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ Community Depository Institutions Advisory Board and their San Antonio Branch Regional Bank Council. Guerra is a Texas delegate-elect for district two of the Independent Community Bankers of America as well.
Locally, he serves as chairman of The United Way of the Coastal Bend, chairman-elect of the South Texas Council Boy Scouts of America, on the board of the Christus Spohn Health System and chairman of Del Mar College Foundation Board of Trustees.
Previously, he also served as chairman of the Corpus Christi Economic Development Board, chairman of the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, and an executive board director of Corpus Christi Business and Job Development Corporation.
