If you have been having issues at a local Bank of America, you’re not alone. Bank of America has closed some of its locations temporarily.
Many residents have reached out to News Channel 3 about this concern along with the trouble of using the ATM machines.
Danny Nelson is one Bank of America customer we spoke to. He said, “The banks closed and so you can’t see a teller and then the machines just not working.”
In a statement to News Channel 3, a representative from Bank of America said, “Like many other banks and businesses operating right now, we have been balancing the need to stay open in as many locations as possible with the health and wellbeing of our employees – which at times may include temporarily closing some financial centers.” They said that nine financial service centers are still open in the Coachella Valley.
Lawrence Rust, another Bank of America customer, has had trouble using the ATM machines as well. He said, “It’s been going on for months where I go to the ATM’s and they’ve been unable to dispense money.” Nelson said, “I don’t know how to feel, I’ve got to pay rent here in the next couple of days so I hope they fix it.” Bank of America representatives said, “Our ATMs did experience higher than normal use over the holiday weekend and with California EDD cards being funded on the first of the month, but by now most ATMs will have been restocked.”
Rust said he went to a few locations in order to get the services he needed and then just gave in and paid the fee elsewhere. He added, “I was able to get money at the drive through but they wouldn’t accept money deposits.”
News Channel 3’s Taban Sharifi visited the Palm Desert Bank of America on Monterey. The bank was closed but there were three ATMs. Only one of the ATMs was working and it said that withdrawal was temporarily unavailable.
Representatives with Bank of America said the Indio branch will be opening back up on Thursday, July 9th. The Palm Desert location will open Friday and the location on Ramon in Palm Springs will reopen early next week.
Bank of America said that their clients are always supported 24/7 through the mobile banking platform and bankofamerica.com. They said, “We encourage clients to use the branch locator tool at bankofamerica.com for the most up to date information on hours of operation as well as the closest ATMs.”
